Quarterlo helps freelancers, independent contractors and gig workers in the United States understand the money side of working for themselves: taxes, deductions, health insurance, banking and retirement, explained in plain English.
When you work for yourself, nobody withholds your taxes, offers you a health plan or sets up your retirement account. The official rules exist, but they’re scattered across IRS pages, forms and publications that can be hard to follow. Our goal is simple: take those official rules and turn them into clear guides with real numbers, worked examples and free tools you can use in minutes.
Who writes here
Quarterlo is written by Blim. I research every guide from primary sources, mainly IRS.gov, SSA.gov and Healthcare.gov, and I build the calculators on this site to make those rules easier to apply. I’m not a CPA or an attorney, and nothing here replaces advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation.
How we work
- Every number, rate, limit and deadline links to its official source and states which tax year it applies to.
- Guides show a “Last updated” date and are reviewed each year when the IRS releases new figures.
- When we find an error, we correct it and update the date.
- Read our full Editorial Policy for details.
How we make money
Quarterlo is free to read. We earn money from display ads and, in some cases, from affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure). Advertisers and partners don’t decide what we write or recommend.
